I presume that if my account gets close to the total number of forms or submissions that I will receive some form of alert?
Will it only be a message within the application or will it be an email to my nominated email account?

You should receive an email that you're getting close to the limit, and you will also see a message in your Account when you log in, that you're close to the limit.
