I want to copy a text field date to a date field

Hi, I am having trouble taking a date in the format "3-2-2018" in a text field and putting it into an actual date field.

I tried using calculation condition to copy it over, or calculate it over, but neither one gives the proper date.

I have not been able to figure out how to convert the text field date into a sequential serial date either.

My main goal is to pass a date from Ontraport to JotForm. I don't have an easy option to break the date coming out of Ontraport into Month, Day and Year, so I was hoping to copy the parameter to text field, then convert it to a date field.

I have also done my best to find a workaround for you, but, unfortunately, it is likely not possible to convert a text-entry into a datepicker value correctly. 

Despite that, I can suggest you to use an input mask to receive the output in date format. Is that acceptable for your purpose?
