Customize Country List

Please let me know if this is possible.

I would like to use the pre-populated "country selection list".
However, I would like to make the following customization:

Change "Japan" to 日本 and leave that as the first option in the list.

I have no need to convert other countries to Japanese characters (for obvious reasons), but would like to make selecting the native country easy (and in the local language).
I would prefer not to simply leave "Japan" pre-selected.

Sorry,
I just realized I have achieved this before.
Simply select "none" for the pre-poulation and copy a list of countries. Put 日本 at the top and remove "Japan".
