Why Submissions page and Excel not retaining data in certain fields?

I have created a jotform to gather survey data for an EU project.

I noticed in the submissions pages and table (and the Excell downloaded from there), that a block of fields were left blank, despite at least one answer being required.

So I completed the questionnaire myself and filled in the fields. The e-mail notification I received as the coordinator shows my answers in this field, but when I go to the submissions page, those fields of the individual submission, and the 'all submissions' table are blank.

Please can you help me solve this?

It makes me wonder about other blank fields in the questionnaire - are they just unpopular options or a glitch in the program?

I don't have time to go through the e-mail notifications verifing all teh data that jotform is supposed to collect for me...

    Thanks for any help!

I have cloned and tested your form and I was able to replicate the issue. However removing the one field that had an issue and creating another one fixed the issue.

This however in your case would mean that if you remove the field and create a new one you will loose data for the removed field.

I would recommend you create another field similar to the faulty field then hide the faulty field. You can then test and let us know if issue is resolved on your end.

Kindly do let us know if you need further assistance on this.

Thank you Trevon. That was very helpful.

I will re-create the field that was faulty as you suggest.

As I have the responses in e-mail notification format, I will not lose the data completely...In any case, I cannot see the data anyway in the submissions downloaded Excel and I will have to copy the responses for the field manually into a data sheet to analyse.

Can I ask: what is the risk with replacing and removing the faulty field? Will it cause problems with eth existing data? Will future submissions fit with the original ones in the same Excel sheet?

    Thanks for that clarification?

I just deleted the faulty field - as it didn't have any associated data in it anyway! ;-)
