I am unable to select past dates in the datepicker field.

My form will not allow users to enter past dates, only the day of events. I have searched but not able to locate the issue. Please advise. I dont want users to enter future dates however.

Please click on the gear icon then you will see the option to allow past and future dates under Limits tab. You can set those options according to your need.
