Edit link: Does it submit like it's a new submission?

If you allowed this, what happens if they edit a form like 6 months later? Does it submit like it's a new submission with updated geolocation stamp and submitted dates (and all the autoresponder and notification emails go again) and you will still retain the previous data and form that was submitted or does it just overwrite the previous information and no notifications go out that it was changed?

When using the same edit link, it will overwrite the same data that was on that submission, but when you submit it, it will be submitted as edited, not as a new submission.
