Spreadsheet to Form Widget: Please add the option to populate data without clicking the button.

There appears to be a serious limitation of the ‘Spreadsheet to Form Widget’. Being able to use a spreadsheet to pre-populate fields on loading a form is extremely useful when the index value is say a date or time you want to use to lookup some values in a row matching the index. If for example you create a pricing table where the date the form is loaded determines the cost, then you can’t achieve that without the user having to click on the “populate fields from spreadsheet” button.

Other uses such as using a QR code to determine the lookup value and resulting data to populate the form is another example where this would be useful.

The omission to provide the option to use a default index value appears to be is a real oversight by the developers. You can already hide the widget (in properties/advanced) though I’m not sure what good that is unless they implement a default value.

Would be great if Jotform would reconsider the priority on implementing this.

    Hi there!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

This is the default functionality of the Spreadsheet to Form widget to populate fields when the button is pressed. The button triggers the widget to search the spreadsheet for the data to be populated.

I can forward this as a feature request to our backend team. However, I can't give an ETA if or when this will be implemented. You will be notified here as soon as there is an update.

Feel free to contact us if you need further assistance.
