Need features for QR code to be a single use.

We have an event and would like to utilize jotform for the below:

Create a registration form that will generate individual QR codes for each registrant. When they submit their registration, they should receive an automated email that confirms their registration was submitted and the email must include their unique QR code. Registrant will show their unique QR code when they arrive at the event to check in.

Our team would need to be able to scan their QR code using any mobile device to check them in as present for the event.

How can we use Jotform to accomplish the above tasks?

    Thank you.

    Hi Belize_Tourism,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Sure you can achieve this using Jotform, but you will need two forms - one to show the QR code and the other to scan.

    See below:

    Form 1:

Add a Dynamic QR code widget to the form. This widget will allow you to ma field data to the QR code.

Say, for example, you want to map the name and email address fields onto the QR code, you need to customize the widget as follows:

    1679376868 641941e47b96f Screenshot 10

    See this demo form 1.

    Form 2:

On the second form add the QR code reader widget. See this demo form 2.

So on the first form, customers will get an email with a QR code, which they can show you. After that, you can use form 2 to scan the QR code.

Please review and let us know if that helps.

    Thank you Girish.

With the direct QR Code reader, how many registrants' QR codes can we scan at the same time?

Can we use the same QR Reader on multiple devices at the same time to scan multiple QR codes to check in registrants into the event?

Would the entries/submissions all feed into one submission report? If yes, does it update in real time or do we need to click refresh every time to see the latest entry? We are trying to avoid duplicate scanning of the readers.

Please advise. Thank you so much.

    Hi Belize_Tourism,

Thank you for getting back to us.

With the direct QR Code reader, how many registrants' QR codes can we scan at the same time?

Yes, it's only possible to scan one QR code at a time. Scanning multiple QR codes to get their values are not possible at the moment.

Can we use the same QR Reader on multiple devices at the same time to scan multiple QR codes to check in registrants into the event?

QR codes are unique by design. They are meant to be a machine-readable representation of a unique piece of information, and as such, each QR code is intended to be used for only one specific purpose.

Would the entries/submissions all feed into one submission report? If yes, does it update in real-time or do we need to click refresh every time to see the latest entry? We are trying to avoid duplicate scanning of the readers.

Apologies, as mentioned QR codes are unique by design. So each form that has this QR Code would fall into one submission only.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

So we have 4 persons who will be using a QR code reader to read the QR codes for guests as they check-in on the day of the event. Can we set up the system that allows a QR Code to be scanned once and a message pops up to say that the code was already scanned?

Since it's a paid event, we are trying to eliminate the possibility of people who may want to give their qr codes to someone else to enter free. Please advise how best we can achieve this with Jot Form.

Also, is there a possibility of having 4 QR code reader with their own forms feed data into one form one submission report form?

    Hi Belize_Tourism,

Thank you for getting back to us. The QR code cannot be limited to a single use.. While the feature you’re looking for isn’t currently available, rest assured we’re always working to add new services and features to Jotform.

I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developer Team. When or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
