    What Carina said above is correct, that is the proper way to escape these braces if you are dealing with HTML.

    However, please note that you can't escape characters in the Subject lines of Email Notifications.

    If I understand the way emails are (en)coded, the Subject is always in plain text, not in HTML. As such, it is not normally possible to escape characters from the email's subject line.
