I have a field set to 8 characters, but it allows entering numbers beyond 8 digits.

I have a number field set up with a limit of 8 digits. The field allows you to type as many numbers as you like, but then puts up a warning box telling you you are over 8 digits. It seems odd that you can keep typing after the limit.

I there a way to not allow any entry after the 8th digit?

    The form is at:

    Hi,

For that, you would want to change the Max Size property for the field:

Changing that attribute to 8 will limit the maximum characters for that field to 8.  Here is my clone of your form with the changes made:

I have it set to 8 max and it allows you to enter 9 digits.

I've just tried both of my forms and they both allow the entry of what appears to be unlimited digits, but then throw up an error if you try to move on to the next question.

If the number of digits is limited, shouldn't it not allow any entry after the limit?

I checked your form and the number field still does indeed allow for over 8 digits even when set to allow for only 8.  This ticket is still open and I'll send another comment to the developers regarding it.

In the mean time, you can use a text box field, set the validation to "Numeric" then set the character limit to 8:

This should allow for the same thing you are looking for but using a text box instead.

I cloned your form and setup the text box so you can see that it does indeed limit the characters to 8:

We will let you know as soon as we have an update regarding the number field.

    Hello,

I've just made an update. It should now enforce the restriction on maxlength attributes set on the number fields in your form.

Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

    Thanks.
