After working fine for several weeks, I just discovered that all emails to firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com have failed since July 23. Not sure what else to do, since I had already followed your instructions about ensuring that these were good addresses. [Plus, is there any way to get notified that mail is failing?
I would like to apologize for the inconvenience this have caused you. Upon checking the email addresses you have provided where your notifications should be sent, I have found out that both email addresses are in the Bounce List.
Result: firstname.lastname@example.org is IN the bounce list
Reason(s) : smtp;550 5.7.1 t6NDvAE5013817 This message does not comply with required standards.
Result: email@example.com is IN the bounce list
Reason(s) : smtp;550 5.7.1 t6NEuAeJ019200 This message does not comply with required standards.
I would recommend for you to check how your server(arlingtonforestclub.org) is configured and refer to this guide: How-to-setup-email-alerts-to-prevent-email-bouncing-related-issues
I have removed both emails from the Bounce List. Should you encounter this same issue, you can also remove your email address from the Bounce List by following the instruction on this guide: How-to-remove-your-email-address-from-bounce-list I hope this helps. I don't understand your bounce list, as messages to my address are again failing. A couple weeks ago you said firstname.lastname@example.org was IN the bounce list, but I hadn't seen it then, and I just check again now using your tools and as you see below it says it is not in the bounce list:
That is very odd, when I check on my end, it is appearing in the bounce list:
Usually, the 550 5.7.1 error suggests an "Unable to relay" problem. With error 5.7.1 it is almost always the recipient’s server telling the sending server that “it has been told not to work with it”. Typically it could be because the sending server/email-address is not whitelisted, or they not allowed to send messages through this SMTP server without providing authentication, relaying not permitted, or the sending server is on an RBL blacklist.
I would recommend whitelisting our domains with your email provider to ensure that this does not continue to happen:
