Is there an Alternative to Matrix field?

Can someone please recommend an alternative to the Matrix widget that can be customized? I need a widget that can communicate AM and PM "shift leads" for each day of the week (see screen shot) with out having to use 12 different text boxes. So my rows are "AM" and "PM" and my columns are all the days of the week (Mon. - Sat.). Any suggestions on this would be appreciated! Thanks!

I am not sure if I understand your request properly. If you just need to select a shift, this is possible to use Drop Down input type on the Matrix field.

Unfortunately, I have to use the text box version of the matrix. Employees input names into those fields and it changes weekly. So no drop down. Also, I am not sure that would make a difference as the matrix widget seems to have a bug in it that makes the last column size incorrectly in email submissions. See picture above, column "Saturday".

I have checked available widgets but have not found any alternatives with multiple rows which can be titled differently. The issue about Matrix view in email has been escalated per this thread. We will let you know if we have any updates.
