Grid Report Edit Submissions link: Request for it to work just like it does in Submissions Panel

How come when you click a submission in the submissions area of jotform it shows you all the fields to do with the submission ... so you can edit them there .. but not when you click edit submissions in a grid report?

I was looking into why it would be working in Submissions Panel and why not in the grid report and it seems to be related to the way it is being called.

So to have this work properly - as you want it - the link to edit submission would be instead of

The only difference being the domain over domain.

I will now raise this to have the same feature available across all domains, or to have an option that would allow the form to be loaded for admins (with hidden fields shown) and for those that should only see the data submitted by the person filling out the form (non hidden fields).

    Hey Ben,

I've just tested this and you are totally right.

Take out the 'pro' part of the url and it works ... invisible fields etc.

That is the requirement ... that is the solution.

An administrator of the grid report can then edit multiple hidden fields to his/her delight.

A lot of people ask for the ability to add notes to the grid report ...

Others ask for a method to star/ rate submissions ... so you could simply use the star and scale ratings and hide from view from respondents ...

    You genius !

Is this a reasonable suggestion ...

Just change the Edit Submission link that can be requested when setting up a grid report ... by removing the 'pro' part from the url .... surely a 2 minute job !!

    Thanks for your good work

    What says you?

    Regards Mark

    Hi Mark,

Our colleague Ben had already submitted a feature request ticket regarding Edit option for the Submission Grid with the details mentioned.

Your latest suggestion and details were added to the note as well.

Our developer will update this thread with a response once they have news/updates on the status.

Is this facing the same product-driven attitude or could you perhaps be customer-driven in this case?

The value obtained for clients resulting from this remedial amend at your end is vast.

Any chance you could fast track this ... all you have to do is remove the 'pro' part of the url.

    Thanks Mark

    Hi Mark.

First, in regards to your previous reply - thank you :)

I had raised this on 27th of October and I see that it is assigned to our developer Paul as an important feature, but unfortunately as you know, we can not see, and as such are not able to give you any further details in regards to this.

What I will do is to leave a comment to Paul to see if he can update you in regards to this.

A possible cause of the delay could be the Safe Harbor issue on which was worked on these days and might still be something being worked on, but as mentioned, I am leaving him a comment to see if he can update you with more details. For now I can only recommend you to use something as GreaseMonkey to go around this for a bit - until it is implemented.Me and my brother use such tools to allow us to expand what we can do into what we need to do, in this case you could capture all links on Grid report that are intended for editing link and just remove the domain and set it up to jotform.comAt this time, for you will need be required to set it up as instead of as above. As shown here (using above sample): the GM alternative is acceptable for you.

    Hi Mark,

The current status of the ticket is "Opened", that means it is under process right now. If there is an update about this issue, you will be informed from this thread. Sorry for the latency; but you can be sure that it will be fixed as soon as possible.

    Hi rkanka21,

I moved your vote to this request to a separate thread so we can also raise a feature request ticket for you that will add up to the number of users who want the same feature. You can check the thread here:

Ok ... about a month and a half has gone by since my last communication ... not much in Jotform time ;-)

So .. Paul's been working hard on other stuff for the last month and a half and hasn't got to this "marked as important feature"

Can I again request for the "Edit Submission" in a Grid Report to show all the blasted fields ... just like it does in the submissions area. What's the point of having an "edit submissions" link when you can't edit your own invisible fields? No administrator is going to edit the raw data from a respondent are they? They want to add their own things .... as a workflow tool ... jeez

Take out the Pro part of the url ... and it works. Is that asking for too much?

Skyrocket the value of the grid report ....

    Thanks Mark

Hi Mark, yes you are correct about the time that has passed.

I can also tell you that the post by rkanka21 was moved by my colleague and another L2 was raised with the same setup as this one.

Now, I would like to ask you if you are still experiencing the same issue? While the change was not implemented a different change was, which seems to always show the edit form with the hidden fields - this happens because we (you and me) are in EU and as such the link such as this:

    gets redirected to this link:

    - and this link shows hidden fields for me.

If that does not work the same for you do let us know and if you wish I can give you the script that would change the links for you.

    Hi ben,

True ... it does redirect to the 2nd link

However, I do not see any hidden field. The View Source shows a hidden field called "Submitter Rating"

This does not show in the edit mode.

    The script?

I don't need it for my use ... I'm the Jotform administrator and can do it in submissions. I need clients to be able to click the "edit submission" link in a grid report and add their own notes ... or rate the submission ... etc

They've been asking for it for ages

    Can you advise Ben,

    Thanks Mark

OK, so that part is great - that it redirects you to the

Somewhat funny thing is that I have just tried again and I at this time I am also not shown the hidden fields :/

Now there are 2 different scripts that I could suggest that you share with your clients to allow them to see these with ease.

    First - using Stylish from

This is a great extension that allows you to set various styles to a website or multiple websites in a very quick manner.

For an example you can check out this user: Grom. This is work of my brother on Wikipedia and other websites we use.

It is used as FireFox and Chrome plugin.

With it and after adding this style to it, you can see the hidden fields:

This is how the form looks without it:

Now this is how it looks with it:

The second approach would be using a script for (one I use) developed by Erik Vold, Nils Maier, Greg Parris. Now there is very likely a Chrome based one as well, but I do not use Chrome and could not recommend any.

Basically what we can with it is if you are on a grid report or not. If you are to show you the right link, or alternatively to show you the hidden fields as done above.

Since people are less confident about using scripts on their side unlike CSS I did not create the script for that, but I am OK with creating one as well if needed, so just let us know :)

Do try the CSS above and you will see how it is easy for them to be able to change things right away.

If you wish I can have that style uploaded on Stylish website and then the updates would be passed to the styles as they are made (you are asked about this).

This is my form, but it should work just the same for your own form:

It is also easy to add the same style to work for jotformpro and other domains if needed.

Do let me know your thoughts on this Mark. :)

    Hi Ben,

Thnaks for all your effort on this. They look like good solutions for developers.

There is no way I could ask my clients to do that. They are not technical ... too busy ... and want solutions to work out-of-the-box.

I also note that on a test form that I am using, with a hidden text area field, that the grid report created ... with the "Show Edit URLs" activated ... does not redirect to the EU address ... just stays on the jotformpro address ... mmmm

Ok ... so this is where I'm at with this ...

Here's an Edit Submission Link from a grid report ...

Click it ... no hidden fields shown ...

Now take out the 'pro' part of the url ...

Hidden field shown ... job done ..

Seriously ... how much effort ... really ... is it to change the Edit Submission Link by three characters?

Can I request this ... so that I can provide my clients with the ability of utilising user-controlled rich reports.

    Please pass on

    Thanks Mark

    Hi Mark,

According to my tests, "" URL doesn't show the hidden fields, if you don't own the form. However, when I tried the modified URL for my own forms, it shows the hidden fields. I assume that it reads the credentials of your account from your cookies and if it isn't match, it is not possible to see hidden fields. So, using the link you have provided is not going to work for your users at this stage.

Also, the ticket is still open. I know it took a long time; but I'm sure that our developer will give you a better explanation about this issue.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Your correct.

If I fire up in another browser, rather than Chrome which I use, there are no hidden fields shown.

In fact if I logout of Jotform on Chrome ... then the hidden fields are not shown

If I log back in ... the hidden fields are shown.

So yeah ... the URL will only show the hidden fields when you are logged into Jotform ... in the same browser.

Ok ... so what does the developer Paul have to say ... before I kick in to the Aytekin route

    Thanks Mark

Hello, I´m also interested on having the hidden fields shown when clicking the edit link in the grid report. I give the grid report to my clients and do need them to be able to see and edit the hidden fields. Any news on this?
