How to change the error page shown when user enters wrong credit card number on form with Authorize.Net?

Asked by kyaqoub on February 05, 2016 at 10:24 AM
When I fill the information if I made an error in the credit card number and hit submit, it shows me and error page without the option to go back to the form. Any way that page can be customized with more friendly message and a link to go back to the form to fix it?

Of course it would've been nicer if the credit card payment field it self showed the error right away and notified the user to correct it before hitting the submit button.

Are you referring to this error message?(please see image below)

Unfortunately, that error message cannot be edited. However, if you click the "go back" link, you will be able to go back to the form.

If this is not the error message you are referring to. Can you give us the error message you're getting, please? If you can post a screenshot of the error message on this thread and explain how are you getting the error message, that would be great!

We will wait for your response. Thank you.

Yes that's the error screen I am referring to. When I click back it takes me to the google site page when I embedded the form but the form does not show up till I do REFRESH! and the worst part is ALL DATA is lost and the user has to re-enter all the information again

    Thank you for the confirmation.

The same error can not be modified, but if you use form over direct form URL, when you go back you will have the same data added within it.

What you have described it seems that you have the form embedded into Google Site. As such it means that even if you go back, the site will never show you the old data, but instead load the iframe contents again.

As far as I know it is not possible to add custom code to Google Site, but if you are able to do the same (HTML, JS and CSS) then you could grab the source code of your form and embed it there. That should then allow you to go back to the Google Site and have the data present.

Again, as far as I know that is only possible through iframe.

The only way to resolve this would be to try to use auto-fill enabled form.

You can see more about this here: How to Enable Auto Fill Feature

The Auto Fill Feature worked only when the submission was successful, going back to the form I can see the data, refreshing the page, still can see the form pre-filled. But it didn't work when the rror screen came up, seems when that error screen comes up it clears the form

Unfortunately in that case it would not be possible to prevent the same.

The only thing that comes to mind as a sort of workaround is to how a message to your users that they should check their credit card details in order to avoid issues during submission, otherwise they would need to re-do the entire form.

In JotForm own research these types of messages have proven to resonate much better with people and have better conversion and in turn smaller bounce rate, so the same can only help in this case.

Google Sites has HTML box but does not support iframe. I am using the jotform "gadget" to embed the form in the site!

On the properties of the form, it is set to clear the form upon successful submission. Why is it still showing the data when returning/refreshing the form after successful submission? does the Auto Fill override that?

Yes, the previous entered data should be cleared once the form is submitted, even if you go back to the form and refresh the page, the data should not be there.

Could be possible for us to get the link to your site?

It would be helpful, since we will able to test your form.

since my payments reached the limit, I switched the payment to Authorize only. Would that be the reason it did not clear the data? is that not considered full submission? Although I do see the data in the spreadsheet.

Even if you are using the payment integration as authorize only, your submissions is completed and your form should be cleared, if it's not the case, you may consider adding a clear button, to do it just click on the submit button, on the top toolbar click on the Reset Button option.
