Can you email a pdf to a person after they've submitted a form?

If you are referring to the PDF submission report with the form filled information, you may enable the option 'Attach PDF' from the advanced settings of your email autoresponder. If you want to send a different PDF file, you may attach the file to the email autoresponder. Please see the screenshot below:

Gotcha - just checked it out. But I'd like to send a pdf only if a person clicks on a specific box (they're buying a specific product to get this pdf). Can the autoresponder do that? Thanks! 

Yes. However, you may create a separate auto-responder enabling the option and setup a condition to send it when the check box is checked. Please note that the emails with the conditions will be sent only when the rule set in the condition is passed. Please refer to the guide below:

Ok - but it still doesn't look like I can auto respond with a pdf attachment - am I missing something? If a customer buys my e-guide, I just want to send it right to them via the auto responder. I certainly have learned about auto responders though!! : ) 

Auto responder has this feature as well.

Awesome - thanks! Learning so much - except what I want to do I don't think JF has the capabilities. My customers can select different products (some physical, some e-guides) and I don't think there's a function to send the pdf file to just those who select the e-guide (the file I want to set for auto responder doesn't go to everyone who fills out the form). At least I didn't see the option to select specific products to email the file?

If you want to send an email autoresponder with an attachment for the users who select the e-guide, you can create a separate autoresponder (let us name it as 'eguide autoresponder') and attach the file to it from the Advanced tab. Then, you can set a condition on the form to send the 'eguide autoresponder' as shown below:
