Email notifications: Ability to have Text Message Format in Email

  • zoiglobal
Asked on February 27, 2019 at 7:51 PM

I am following the directions, EXACTLY, like indicated in the following document pertaining to a TEXT ONLY MESSAGE FORMAT email:

    https://www.jotform.com/help/363-How-to-Have-Text-Only-Message-Format-in-Email-Deprecated-

I have hand-typed the information and I want after deleting ALL SOURCE CODE!  Regardless what I do, the email message is sent in HTML format.

    Can you please advise?

    Denise

We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. I checked your autoresponder email template and it is already in text format. Can you show us an HTML-formatted email so we know what you're referring to?

    Looking forward to your response.

This form is submitting an email containing a url.  The email recipient is an AT&T MMS email address (AT&T is the correct carrier for example phone number and is correctly selected from list on form).  EX:  8179881086@mms.att.net.  Image #1 shows how it looks in IOS.

When the email with EXACT SAME CONTENT is directly emailed from Outlook to 8179881086@mms.att.net, it works PERFECTLY well. See Image #2.

    Thank you for your help.

The issue is most probably related to the fact that all text emails are not supported as the note states in our guide:

    15513479022019 02 28 10 58 11 Screenshot 10

So whatever you write there is automatically converted to HTML.

    Nik,

Can we look a little deeper, please?  It does just fine when sent as an email OUTSIDE of Jotform!  It IS on JotForm's email server side as there are clear differences between directly sent from Jotform and manually forwarding the email once jotform sends to my NON MMS email.

Red = Sent directly to 8179881086@mms.att.net from JotForm submission

Blue = Sent direct to whyw8@sbcglobal.net from JotForm submission and then forward from Outlook, with ZERO MODIFICATIONS, to 8179881086@mms.att.net.

As mentioned by my colleague the text message format in email is deprecated.

    As mentioned in this guide:

Text only emails are actually no longer used as mobile devices are becoming more common and all can open HTML-based emails without issues.

If you want then we can raise a feature request for this.

    Thanks.

Absolutely raise a feature request!  Outlook and Yahoo Mail can do it. Why not Jotform?
Is this happening on your outbound server side if I use Jotform’s SMTP server?

Let me forward the thread to our backend team as a feature request for evaluation. We cannot provide any ETA for implementation if accepted at this moment. This depends on the developer's availability and the number of users requesting the same feature. However, rest assured, once there's any progress on this request, you'll be surely informed via this thread.

You may try setting up the SMTP email in your Form if that works.

Let us know if you have other questions. We would gladly assist you.

    Thanks.
