Encryption necessary?

If my form collects social security and drivers license numbers but I have the Gold plan...do I have to encrypt the form?

I want to allow the user to update their submission as needed but I am wondering if this will still be possible if I encrypt the form.

So is encryption in my case absolutely necessary?

    Hi Jillian!

Unfortunately, the users will not be able to edit their submissions if the encryption is in place. This due to privacy reasons and it will require for the users to have the private key to view or edit their own submissions.

I recommend that you keep the forms normally as this will allow your users to update their submissions with the link that can be sent to them.

Here is a guide to assist you with adding edit links to users when submissions are confirmed.

I assure you Jotform has a very powerful cloud of servers whose storage is encrypted and provides security protection against malicious attacks like SQL injection and denial of service (DDOS) attacks.

So we provide a high-security standard throughout our hosting provider's servers for data storage. All of our SSL certificates support high-grade 256-bit encryption.

Our forms embed codes are 100% using the HTTPS protocol (SSL)  by default. Therefore the data transmission from the person who submits the information to our servers is done in an encrypted manner.

Please let us know if you have further questions on this matter. Have a wonderful day!

Can I keep the form without encryption if I am collecting information such as social security numbers?
