PDF Editor: Filled field is not missing

    3. Another problem was one of the fields ("colourSelection") would not appear in the PDF form. It was just blank for no apparent reason. On one of my submissions yesterday, the field value was set to "Any Standard Colour" and would not appear in the PDF form. I had no problems with this field until I changed it from a simple dropdown to a widget. I wondered if I had mistakenly altered the PDF, but my investigation and tests today show that is not the case. Frankly, I am reluctant to use any of the widgets because they often cause me more grief than they solve. I have already scrapped the use of Tabs widget. Although I really wanted to take advantage of its potential, but I had to scrap it.

I checked the submission page of your form and the filed Colour Selection was not filled. Because of that the filed is empty in your latest PDF report.

    How to View Form Submissions

Please note that the Default Input Text of this field is "Any Standard Colour" and your widget also has the same option. The text entered in Default Input Text of the widget settings is just a hint text, like Please select. It is not a preselected option.

I would suggest you to change the Default Input Text to avoid possible confusion.

Some additional documentation under the parameter input field in the widget might avoid this confusion.

Is there a way to set a default value?

In any case, I will make the suggested adjustment and monitor.

Unfortunately the Grouped Values Dropdown widget does not have such property similar to some of the basic text fields like the Dropdown list.

So you cannot do this for the widget for now.
