We are a new user and interested in interfacing with a data base of applicants.

Hi,
If you mean exporting your form data then import it to an MS Access Database, you can do that by exporting the submissions to an Excel file first. Here's a guide on How-to-Export-Form-Data-to-Excel.
After that, you can import the data from Excel to Access. Here's a relevant guide for that: Move-data-from-excel-to-access
Please try that and let us know how it goes.

Yes, that is a route that should work. Will the export file have field headers than can match to the data base structure?
We are 1-3 weeks away from having form ready to take to that next step.

Could you please further explain this "have field headers than can match to the database structure"?
Please note that when you export submissions, the field headers are the same as the field headers in your form.
Looking forward to your response.

Perfect. We will set up our data base field names the same as the form.
Thank you,
