How to use spreadsheet to form widget in one form and copy the data to another form?

    Hi,

Actually I was looking for a possible work around...

Some like another form that is the, so to speak, server for the others and copies input/output from a sheet-2-form widget to the other forms. The other forms would not have the widget them selves only the results. Or is this not possible.

    Best,

I am not sure if I have understood your question correctly. Do you mean to say that you want to use spreadsheet to form widget in one form and then copy the date to another form?

Yes that is possible by taking advantage of URL parameter feature. Here are the steps you need to follow:

#1. Build your form and add "Spreadsheet to Form" widget in form.

#2. Upload your excel spreadsheet to populate the form fields with date from excel spreadsheet row.

#3. You can then pass the data from one form to another form by taking advantage of URL parameter. The following guide should help you how to pass data form one form to another: https://www.jotform.com/help/351-How-to-Automatically-Pass-Form-Data-to-Another-Form

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

I had a look at documentation you show. I really don't think what i'm looking for is currently possible.

I want to be able to select a XL file from ones I've uploaded already for the 'spreadsheet 2 form' widgets.

Example, I have 4 forms using same XL-sheet for the widget, so, currently I have to upload the same sheet 4 times. If I get distracted, I may miss  getting all four XL-sheets changed. Currently, If I upload an image I need only upload it once and select it when I want. Not exactly the same thing, but maybe you get the picture :)

Here is my idea; a form needs XL file for widget 'spreadsheet 2 form'. An Uploaded XL-Sheet has ID# applied to it, so, widget can always uses this ID. It is like having a pool with ID'd XL-sheets and you select the one you want, only once.

If a new XL-sheet is updated then uploaded, you give it the same ID#, so, all form widgets using this sheet-ID# are updated. I'm not sure exactly this would be accomplished.Forms with the-widget that use another sheet-ID would not be effected.

I hope this clears up what I'm looking for, or perhaps muddies the waters...

    Robert

Unfortunately, I don't see a possible way to implemente what you are looking for. The best option is to have the Spreadsheet to Form widget on each form, so you can upload the Excel file in each of them.

    Hi,

This is becoming a bigger problem. I have been asked to use this widget on more forms. Right now I have 3 sheet-2-form spread sheets. One for members, one for clubs and one for dogs. I use them to verify their status. Can I possibly create a single form with all 3 options and then using iframe plant into the forms requiring it. In that way I would only have to update the sheets for one and not 10 or more.

I do something simulair for showing documents on forms. Is this possible?

I am not sure if I have understood your requirement correctly. I understand that you have 3 forms where you have added the widget and uploaded the excel file. Do you mean to say that you want to update the uploaded excel data automatically?

Even if you build one single form and embed the other forms in main form using iFrame embed, they will continue to work separately. You will not be able to pass data across different forms.

I would suggest you to please explain your requirement in details of all 3 forms and we will take a look if there is any possibility to combine all forms together.

We will wait for your response.

So I have more then 3 forms now, that use the same sheet to form widget or widgets. Some use one for membership verification, some for dog membership verification and others for club verification. A couple use two of these, membership and dog membership. I'm being asked to create more forms using the widget(s).

It is becoming a logistics problem for me to remember which forms require which sheet-2-form widget.

My thought is to create one form with all three, then using an iframe to placed this form into the forms that need 1 2 or all 3. I was then thinking I could hide the ones not needed for a particular form.

Now I would have only one form to update the spread sheets for and not 10 or more. Perhaps this diagram might help.

Hi, do you want 3 different Spreadsheet to Form widgets on a single form? That is posible:

If you need to display them based on previous selection, you can do it through conditions: https://www.jotform.com/help/316-How-to-Show-or-Hide-Fields-Base-on-User-s-Answer

If you actually want to have one form, where all the Spreadsheet to Form widgets will be hosted, and from that form feed the other forms with values from the corresponding sheets, that is not possible, it goes beyond JotForm capabilities.

Not exactly... I want a form with the 3 Spreadsheet to Form widgets only, no submit no header... just them.

Then by using an iFrame , have this form placed in the body of other forms.

Hi, unfortunately, having that separate form embedded in the body of the other forms will not do anything, the data from the Spreadsheet to Form widgets will not populate the other forms.

Hi, unfortunately, your are correct... I tried a few different ways but it didn't work as you say. I was able to place the iFrame with the sheet-to-form into the second form, the widget worked within the iframe, but as you say you can only look at it, nothing more. Very Sad :(

This is a real headache for me, but "it is what what it is"...  I have asked for the ability to use uploaded x-cel sheets over and over like we can do with images. That would be most helpful.

Thanks for your help as always...

    best, Robert
