Need more details on Match fields for Jotform Integration with Constant Contact

I love that Jotform integrates with Constant Contact but I don't understand the "Match form fields" option and what it actually DOES.  Does it only MATCH or does it also FEED data?

(I read this page thoroughly , by the way - it's great - but doesn't answer my question: http://www.jotform.com/blog/51-JotForm-Now-Integrates-with-Constant-Contact)

I want it to match email addresses - but I don't want it to create a new contact if someone types their own name slightly differently.

I DO want Jotform to feed people's names and country/state if they're NEW contacts - and to UPDATE that info in current records.

How can I find out what  you really mean by "match" and how to make sure it DOESN'T duplicate slightly-different-name contacts and DOES update info in already-subscribed contacts?

    Thanks!

    DHC

(A jotform user since ... um ... 2012 I think! And love the new changes)

The match fields allows you to map jotform fields to fields in constant contact, this way the form data will be inserted into theses matched fields

By default entries are matched based on the email address so if an email address already exists the details will be updated for the existing one.

I hope this clarifies the integration for you

Thanks Sammy -- I appreciate this ... but also got a completely different response from someone else at Jotform Support:

    Answered by BDAVID
When you match JotForm fields and Constant Contact fields, it means that each time your form is submitted a new contact is created. It does not mean it will update your already created contacts.

This is pretty scary if it's true and a sure recipe for disgruntled customers.  Which answer is actually true??

Our apologies for the confusion, but Sammy's reply is correct. I think BDAVID meant something different.

    Thanks
