Not a skilled player? Just like to play for fun? Don’t worry! There are three skill levels in a double elimination tournament. Students are eliminated when they have lost two games. Each round will be 15 minutes. Winners of each round are decided by checkmate or if players are not able to reach checkmate by the time limit, the winner is decided by the point value of the pieces left on the board. The final ending rounds are single elimination only. Students who do not advance in the tournament may play other non-advancing players for fun.
The tournament divisions are advanced, intermediate, and beginning. A first place trophy, second, and third place medals and participation ribbons are awarded in each category. If you have questions contact your building G/T advocate or G/T consultant.
